  • GreenPeace Report “How Green is your cloud?”
How much energy is required to power the ever-expanding online world? What percentage of global greenhouse gas emissions is attributable to the IT sector? This report takes a look at the energy choices some of the largest and fastest growing IT companies are making, as the race to build “the cloud” creates a new era of technology.
  • The green grid
The Green Grid Association is a 501(c)6 non-profit, open industry consortium of end users, policy makers, technology providers, facility architects, and utility companies that works to improve the resource efficiency of information technology and data centers throughout the world. With more than 200 member entities around the world, The Green Grid seeks to unite global industry efforts, create a common set of metrics, and develop technical resources and educational tools to further its goals.

FIRE

The BonFIRE consortium brings together world leading industrial and academic organisations in cloud computing to deliver a robust, reliable and sustainable facility for large scale experimentally-driven cloud research. Multinational companies (ATOS, HP, SAP), renowned universities and super computing centres (UCM, EPCC, HLRS Stuttgart, iMinds, TUB), research centres (IT Innovation, FhG Fokus, Inria, i2CAT) and technology analysts (451 Group) provide the complimentary expertise and infrastructure resources necessary to accelerate the research and development within the Internet of Services community.
The objective of the AmpliFIRE Support Action is to prepare FIRE for year 2020, in strengthening the exploitation and impact creation capacities of Future Internet Research and Experimentation (FIRE) facilities. It brings the concept of open innovation into the world of FIRE, involving beneficiaries across the range from infrastructure technologies to new modes of interaction, collaboration and empowerment.

Cloud

CloudPatterns.org is a community site dedicated to documenting a master patterns catalog comprised of design patterns that capture and modularize technology-centric solutions distinct or relevant to modern-day cloud computing platforms and business-centric cloud technology architectures.
The AWS Cloud Design Patterns (CDP) are a collection of solutions and design ideas for using AWS cloud technology to solve common systems design problems. To create the CDPs, we reviewed many designs created by various cloud architects, categorized them by the type of problem they addressed, and then created generic design patterns based on those specific solutions. Some of these problems could also be addressed using traditional data-center technology, but we have included cloud solutions for these problems because of the lower cost and greater flexibility of a cloud-based solution.
